Dallas coach Rick Carlisle wasn’t surprised the Spurs made a couple of moves at the deadline to bring new players like Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw and Patty Mills as soon as his visa situation is cleared.
“If you look at their history, they have been aggressive,” Carlisle said. “When they got Richard Jefferson, that was a big move. And getting Jackson is a big move.
“They are loading up for a run. They are like a lot of us. They see this thing is pretty wide-open and they have a great shot. They are trying to get everything in order and get guys healthy, just like we are.”
Carlisle is particularly intrigued by the addition of Mills and Diaw, who both should be immediate contributors in the Spurs’ rotation — perhaps as soon as tonight in Diaw’s case.
“Diaw is a very good all-around player. He can make threes. He’s a multi-position player. He’ll help them,” Carlisle said. “Patty Mills is a very good shooter. With the way that they play, he fits into their scheme where he can step in and make shots and play himself.
“With losing (T.J.) Ford, they had to do something at the point, I guess,” Carlisle said. “Diaw has been a very good player in this league and he has playoff experience.”
